Objectives:

By the end of the lesson students will be

able to:

-Revise the topic’s material through interactive activities

-Cooperate creatively and imaginatively, develop their speaking, listening, reading skills

-Summarize their knowledge on the “Food” topic

-Care about their healthy eating,

-Widen their outlook.

Equipment: “Fruit and Veggies” flashcards, posters

“Food “-Mind-Map, “My Food Groups Pyramid”, badges and five- colored ribbons for students, Power Point Presentation “Healthy Eating” ’’Five Food Groups Song”- “Five Food Groups Speech”(Video-block),on -line computer activity “My Balanced Plate”, worksheets “Likes -Dislikes”

I. Introduction:

Warming-up -A Prayer “Our Father”

Procedure

1.1 Greetings:

T: Good morning, my dear pupils. I’m glad to meet you today. How are you? We’ll speak about your favorite food and healthy eating today.

1.2 Warming-up: T: First of all let’s recite our today’s motto:

I’m a smart eater-kid,

From the Five Food Groups I eat.

I’m getting healthier every day,

I’ll feel best by the way.

Let’s Check up your vocabulary (pupils name the meals in the Slides of Power Point Presentation);

II. Main part:

2.1 Speaking: Remind and say the proverbs about food, we eat: Pupils answers:

  1. An apple a day keeps a doctor away.

  2. We are what we eat.

  3. We live not to eat, we eat to live.

  4. Eat well, think good.

2.2 ” Mind-Map” activity:

What for do we need food

To get a lot of vitamins, Be active

To be in a good shape,

To get energy, To be strong,[endif]--

To grow faster, To be healthy,

T: What do you prefer or quit like to eat?

PI, P2,.. .P The example of pupil’s speech :I prefer to eat mom’s tasty borsch, grilled meat or sausages .1 quit like cookies, cherry cake, ice-cream...

2.3 Like , dislike activity”(work in pairs): style="margin-left:1.0pt;"Pupils are given the task to match Food pictures and their names, besides they ask each other about food stuff from the picture. The example is:” Do you like cheese?”- Yes, I do. (No, I don’t.)

2.4 Monologue speaking: style="margin-left:1.0pt;"T: Have you ever heard about “Five Food Groups Pyramid”? Share your opinions.

(the blackboard is equipped with poster ’’Food Pyramid” of five colors. Pupils stick the food flashcards according colored lines: green-is for veggies, blue-is for dairy, orange-is for meat and seafood, brown -is for grains, Violet-is for oil and fat)

2.5 Listening:

2.8 Singing a song (video "Five Food Groups song") (pupils are singing and dancing)

2.9 Computer Game ”My balanced Plate”(on-line):

Pupils are playing this game for 2 minutes. The task of the game is to choose the products for cooking breakfast, lunch, dinner and supper and present own food stuff for a day.

Ill Summarizing:

T: So, dear pupils, to summarize our knowledge do the last activity:

“Should or shouldn’t’ (work-in- groups)Pupils are given the trays with real fruit, veggies, some products on, and the task is to put the stickers “Should eat” or “Shouldn’t eat” into supposed food.

T: What food do you prefer?

What lesson activity did you like most of all?

Are you happy of our today’s meeting? Your marks are...

IV Home task:

Pupils should write a composition “My Healthy Eating”, giving the recommendations of healthy food.
