I Introduction.

Nice to see you, ladies and gentlemen! Welcome to our literary seminar! You'll be able to speak about British poets and writers represent your project works ,enjoy the poems, review the video reports of some American scholars! I hope you'll be active today.

1.Warming-up.

2.1Bio.com. activitity:

  1. Match the portraits and the writers' names (revise the Slides 2-7);

Match the authors and their literary works (revise the Slide 8);

  1. Teacher: Let's speak about one of the greatest poets, who was called the son of Scotland. Surely about Robert Burns.

Pl-tells about R. Burns; P2-recites the poem "My Heart's in the Highlands";

P3-presents the Rudyard Kipling's short biography;

Teacher: You know, "Jungle Book" by R. Kipling ,a collection of short stories inspired the formation of the Wolf Cub division of the Boy Scout movement.

You and your partner have got some information about the life of George Gordon Byron, but you have not got the same information. Ask and answer questions to complete the sentences.

Example:

The great English revolutionary poet George Gordon Byron was born... (where?) on January 22, 1788, into an old aristocratic family.

SA: Where was Byron born?

SB: He was born on January 22, 1788.

His mother came of a... (what- family?). His father was a poor army officer who very soon spent his wife’s money and died... (when?).

The boy was lame from birth, yet, thanks to his strong will and regular training he became an excellent rider, a champion swimmer, a boxer and took part in... (what?).

Byron spent first ten years of his life... (where?). He was fond of the rocky coast and mountains of the country. His love of natural scenery was reflected in... (where?). The boy went to a grammar school. He liked... (what?).

In 1798 his granduncle died and the boy inherited... (what?).

The family went to live there and George was sent to Harrow School, where нe wrote poems and read them to... (who?).When George was sixteen, he fell in love with Mary Ann Chaworth.
